WE send our warmest greetings to the 17th congress of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

Your congress is being held in a very sensitive period. There seems to be no limit to the imperialist aggression which aims to defeat all the elements that resist the existing world order. But we believe that there is a limit and that there will be a turning point, thanks to the struggles against imperialism and capitalism all over the world.

The CPI(M) is well known for its determined policy against the imperialist powers, especially US imperialism. It is clear that now this just policy should forge further ahead, without any hesitation, as the United States is constantly increasing its pressure on the Asian countries. It has invaded Afghanistan and is planning to declare a war against Iraq and other countries. The ruling circles in Washington have already declared the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Iraq and Iran as an "axis of evil;" a military operation had already started in Colombia and Phillippines; the Israeli terror backed by the US is getting worse and worse every day.

India is also a part of the US plans. In fact, your country is playing a key role in the region. This makes the CPI(M)’s struggle all the more important as there is no real resistance to the US plans except from the communists in your country.

In such conditions, we send our best regards to the congress not in only words but in the form of our full support to your political work.
