Comrade Ravi Sinha
VETERAN CPI(M) leader and member of its Uttar Pradesh state committee, Comrade Ravi Sinha died at a hospital in Pune on January 9. He was 77 years old.
Having plunged into the anti-imperialist struggle during his student days, Comrade Ravi Sinha joined the Communist Party in 1940. He was a member of the National Council of the united party. After the split in 1964, he sided with the CPI(M). From then on till his death, he remained a member of the UP state committee of the party.
A recognised trade union leader, Comrade Ravi Sinha had been president of the CITUs UP state unit. At the time of his death, he was its vice-president and an office bearer of many unions.
In a message sent to the Uttar Pradesh state committee of the party, the CPI(M) Polit Bureau condoled his death. It noted that Comrade Ravi Sinha "for six decades, had served the trade union movement and the Communist Party with dedication. He was a comrade who had a Marxist-Leninist outlook which guided all his activities." (INN)
