SFI Condemns VHP Attack On Ahmedabad Peace Dharna
THE Students Federation of India (SFI) has harshly condemned the disruption of a peace dharna by students at Ahmedabad on Sunday, March 3. Held in the background of the ongoing communal riots, the dharna was disrupted by VHP activists who also burnt the placards and signature boards, and beat up the participating students.
The dharna was organised by students and faculty members of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad, Centre for Environment Planning and Training (CEPT) and Physical Research Laboratory (PRL).
The SFI statement issued by its president P Krishnaprasad and general secretary Samik Lahiri said the action underlined the fact that the VHP was determined to continue the mass genocide engineered by it, and was not ready to tolerate any voice of reason and sanity.
The SFI demanded strong action against the rioters and immediate ban on the VHP and Bajrang Dal. It also asked the students all over the country to come forward to rebuff the communal elements and initiate more such actions to help strengthen the efforts for communal peace. (INN)
