CPI(M) Airlifts Medicines To Ahmedabad
MEDICINES worth Rs 2.5 lakhs have been airlifted to Ahmedabad on May 4. This consignment of 67 boxes containing antibiotics, water beds, disposable syringes, sanitary towels, I V bottles and other essential drugs, is part of the relief material being sent by the CPI(M) to Ahmedabad. They are meant for three relief camps and the Al-Ameen Gareeb Nawaz Hospital where many victims of the state-sponsored carnage are receiving treatment.
This shipment of medicines and general items have been purchased from the contributions received by the West Bengal state committee of the CPI(M) as a sequel to the visit of CPI(M) central committee member, Sukomal Sen and Sudheer Kumar, president of the Federation of Medical Representatives Association of India to some relief camps in the city to find out their requirement. The FMRAI had earlier sent medicines worth Rs 75,000 to Ahmedabad.
The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M), in the meanwhile, has called upon its units all over the country to collect money for its efforts at providing relief to the victims of the genocide in Gujarat and send it to the central committee. Initially, the PB had appealed for collection of medicines and other material for supply to the relief camps. But since it found that collection of medicines is a difficult and laborious task, it has now asked its units to send money for purchase of medicines and other relief material.
