SFI Relief Fund
Help The Student Victims Of Gujarat
HE SFI will raise a relief fund by collecting money from students, teachers and the general public to help the innocent student victims in Gujarat. The collected money will be used to help the needy students to complete their education and to pursue higher studies. SFI has appealed to the students and general public all over India to generously contribute to the Students Relief Fund.
In a statement, SFI all India president P Krishna Prasad and general secretary Shamik Lahiri said that all the units and activists of SFI have been asked to form student squads to collect relief fund on May 17, 2002 in the campuses across the country. Though many students are busy with their exams, they have been asked to put in extra effort for this fund drive keeping in view the gravity of the situation in Gujarat.
The SFI has requested that the money so collected should be sent to the central office of the SFI either by money order or demand draft addressed in favour of Students Federation of India. Individual activists and citizens are requested to directly send their contributions latest by June 15.
The statement noted that "thousand of students have become victims of brutality of communal carnage and hate campaign and are in need of social help to reshape their future. Apart from being subjected to the barbarism of the communal flare up, these students have been subjected to discrimination under the Narendra Modi administration. Students from the minority community were even prevented from appearing in the examinations."
