Greets 16th CP China Congress
On
behalf of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Central Committee, general
secretary Harkishan Singh Surjeet sent the following message on November 8,
2002, to the Central Committee, Communist Party of China, on the occasion of the
16th national congress of the CPC.
THE
Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) extends its warm
fraternal communist greetings to the 16th congress of the Communist Party of
China. This congress is of great importance, which in a complex world situation
is going to chart the path the communists have to follow in building socialism
in China.
The
16th congress of the CPC is taking place in a very complex international
situation when imperialism, led by the USA, utilising the post-September 11,
2001 situation, is launching fresh offensives to establish its hegemony
worldwide. Simultaneously, imperialism is seeking to emerge from the global
economic recession by intensifying the economic exploitation of the developing
countries and shifting the burdens of the crisis on to them.
Following
the end of the bipolar cold war period, the tendency of international
developments is a movement towards multipolarity. US imperialism, however, is
seeking to subvert this process and impose unipolarity under its leadership.
The
imperialist attempts to establish its political and economic hegemony is being
met with wider and wider resistance. In this situation, the CPC’s firm
adherence to the socialist path is a source of inspiration for the peoples
struggling for an exploitation-free society.
The
CPI(M) has had close relations with the Communist Party of China. It has been
keenly following the developments taking place in China. It notes the impressive
economic advances made by China following the resolutions adopted at the 12th
CPC congress in 1982 for ushering in socialist modernisation in China. The
tremendous economic strides made by China, unaffected by the worldwide
recession, are receiving worldwide attention.
The
CPI(M) is confident that the deliberations of the 16th congress of the CPC will
facilitate the further growth and consolidation of socialism in China.
The
CPI(M) is confident that the relations between the peoples of China and India
will continue to improve and this, in turn, will contribute to bringing peace
and stability in the region. We are sure that the deliberations of this congress
will contribute to strengthening this process.
The
Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) once again wishes
the 16th congress of the Communist Party of China all success and conveys its
fraternal greetings to all delegates.
