IN
a shameful instance of the moral degeneration that has been eating like a canker
into the innards of the Trinamul Congress, three of its state level leaders were
apprehended by the police from a South 24 Parganas resort, involved in running
and participating in a sleaze racket.
One
of the three Trinamul Congress leaders is Ashis Chakravarty who was formerly the
personal assistant to Kolkata mayor Subrata Mukherjee and was subsequently made
one of the state general secretaries of the Trinamul Congress. The other two are
Biswanath Basu, a state general secretary of the party; and Dinabandhu Chaudhury,
general secretary of the South Kolkata Trinamul Congress. All three are very
close to Ms Mamata Banerjee and are from South Kolkata.
All of them initially tried to bluff their way out of the situation in which the police caught them, but later went meekly to the police station. Later they were produced before and remanded to jail custody by the Alipore SDJM court. (INN)
