Condoles Tidal Wave Deaths
The
Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following
statement on December 26, 2004
THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its shock at the severe loss of life caused by tidal waves triggered off due to devastating earthquake in Indonesia this morning.
The tidal waves have devastated human life and property in many places all along the Indian coastline and many island countries in the Indian Ocean.
There are reports of largescale loss of life in the states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Pondicherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands while Orissa, West Bengal and Kerala have also been affected. The loss of life in Kanyakumari district in Tamil Nadu is also quite heavy.
The
Polit Bureau, while condoling these deaths, calls upon the central government to
provide all necessary assistance to the state governments to extend relief on a
war footing. (INN)
