The
state conference elected an 85-strong state committee.
In its first meeting, the state committee unanimously elected Anil
Biswas as the state secretary, and Nirupam Sen as the treasurer.
Five elderly leaders of the CPI(M), Samar Mukherjee, Subodh Roy, Kanak
Mukherjee, Ananda Pathak, and Haridas Malakar were made honorary members of the
state committee. The state
secretariat would be set up later and till such time the present secretariat
would continue to function. A
five-member state control commission was set up headed by Ramnarayan Goswami. The other members are: Kanika Ganguly, Mustafa Bin Kasem,
Shayamapada Pal, and Samir Dasgupta.
During
the state conference, many seminars and symposia were held at locations
conveniently near to the conference venue on various topics having current
relevance, and these were addressed by the central and state leadership of the
CPI(M).
