Dear comrades, On behalf of the Communist Refoundation Party of Italy, I extend to all members of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) our greetings and gratitude for being invited to your Congress.

Your 18th National Congress falls at a time of very significant political development in India. The results of your last general elections and the struggles of your party with the worker’s movement, the woman, the minorities and the Adivasi, Dalit, and OBC’s people are a major encouragement to continue in our common political struggle, aimed at stopping the right wing parties and at defeating right wing policies.

Before all of us lies the big challenge to find a left wing solution and to move towards a left and democratic alternatives in politics and economics, that enable us to drag out of the crises of the new free-trade policies and out of the state of permanent war, which is nurtured by the very nature of the capitalist globalisation.

Therefore, our party, while refusing NATO and the EU as a military alliance, stands for another Italy and another Europe: Of peace, of the peoples, of universal citizenship and social rights, of equality and solidarity.

Thanking all of you for providing such excellent conditions and facilities for our staying, we wish a great success to your Congress.
