MEETING at New Delhi on May 26-27, the central executive committee of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) has decided to launch a nationwide campaign against the growing unemployment in the country. The DYFI has also ridiculed the UPA government for its failure to bring in the employment government act (EGA) as mentioned in its CMP. The DYFI’s CEC has strongly criticised the BJP for not allowing the bill to move through the parliament committee. The DYFI has demanded that the government give up the targeted form of the EGA and make it universal for the whole poor population. In this regard, the DYFI leadership has already met the prime minister and submitted a memorandum earlier.
On
September 15, throughout the country, massive youth marches will be organised at
the district and state levels. For popularising the campaign, state level
conventions on employment will be held on July 15, 2005. State level campaign
jathas and propaganda programmes will also be organised, which would bring out
the real attitude of the UPA government towards the burning issue of employment
and education.
The
DYFI central executive committee has urged the UPA government to stop its hide
and seek policy. The real issues of the people are to be addressed and failure
will only fetch fertile ground for the communal forces to unleash their vicious
campaign in the country.
The DYFI has also decided to organise a jatha throughout North India, it will start from Jammu and Kashmir in the month of September.
This
is the 25th year of the formation of DYFI in the country. Throughout the country
a large number of activities --- ranging from sports, cultural, social and
political --- are being organised. Lakhs of youth are participating in such
activities. The DYFI has targeted to reach more than 1.5 crore youth to silver
jubilee activities. (INN)
