No. 23 June 05, 2005 |
The
Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) issued the following
statement on June 2, 2005.
THE
Delhi High Court has quashed the proceedings against he Hinduja brothers and the
Bofors company in the Bofors gun kickback case. As per the court judgement the
documents and material produced by the CBI were not original documents, nor
authenticated copies. It is surprising that after such a long investigation such
infirmities and elementary errors existed in preparing the case.
The
CPI(M) has always maintained that the Bofors gun deal was an important case
highlighting corruption in high places. Neither the CBI nor the judicial process
in our country has been able to produce a verdict in all high-level corruption
cases. This has eroded the people’s faith that the system is incapable of
bringing to book those who misuse public funds.
The Polit Bureau demands that the CBI remove the infirmities in the case material and revive the case through the appropriate legal process.
