On Victory In Tripura Elections
Prakash
Karat, general secretary of Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the
following statement on March 7, 2006
ON behalf of the central committee of the CPI(M), I congratulate the CPI(M) state unit of Tripura for its magnificent victory in the village committee elections held under the Tripura Autonomous District Council. Out of the 527 village committees, the CPI(M) has won 503 with the opposition winning only 24 village committees. This resounding victory shows the overwhelming support of the people to the CPI(M) and the Left Front government. I am confident that the newly-elected village committees will discharge the responsibilities to ensure development and meet the people’s aspirations.
