THE
Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) expresses profound shock
and grief at the death of comrade Sheopat Singh, member of the secretariat of
the Rajasthan state committee of the Party.
Comrade
Sheopat Singh was the vice president of the All India Kisan Sabha and president
of its Rajasthan unit. He has led many peasant struggles in Rajasthan and went
to jail several times during the course of these struggles. He has been a
relentless champion of the cause of the downtrodden sections of the people and
has fought many battles for their rights and for improving their living
conditions. A mass leader with immense appeal, comrade Sheopat Singh was a
former member of the Rajasthan legislative assembly. In 1989 he was elected to
the Lok Sabha from Bikaner. He was a popular leader respected by all sections of
society.
The
Polit Bureau conveys its heartfelt condolences to the Rajasthan state committee
of the Party. It also conveys its heartfelt condolences to his family members.
