Anganwadi
Workers Begin
Ten-Day
Mass Relay Hunger Strike
Thousands
of anganwadi workers and helpers
from all over the country began a ten-day mass relay hunger strike in Delhi on
July 25 at the Parliament street as part of their struggle to achieve their
demands. Braving the inclement weather of Delhi, they spiritedly carried on
their struggle at the time of going to press.
The
hunger strike was inaugurated by CITU president M K Pandhe and prominent leaders
of the CPI(M) including general secretary Prakash Karat, Kerala chief minister V
S Achutanandan, CPI(M) Polit Bureau member B V Raghavulu and others greeted the
workers and expressed solidarity with their struggle.
A
detailed report on the struggle will be carried in these columns in the next
issue. - Ed
