Four-Day All India School For  Youth Cadre Held

THE Communist Party of India (Marxist) central committee organised a four-day all India School for its youth cadre at AKG Bhavan in New Delhi on July 27-30, 2006. Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechury inaugurated the school which was attended by 150 delegates, including 20 young women from all over the country. Party secretariat members V Srinivasa Rao, Nilotpal Basu and eminent economist Jayati Ghosh were also present during the inaugural session, which was presided over by DYFI general secretary Tapas Sinha. 

Yechury in his inaugural address while explaining the need and objective of the school emphasised that in today’s fast changing world there is no alternative to self-study. He said without raising the political consciousness of the cadre, it is not possible to enhance the political struggle. He said that Marxism is the only scientific philosophy that can guide the humanity in advancing its struggle for a better future.

A total of five subjects were covered in this school encompassing ideological, political and organisational aspects. The subjects and teachers were: Globalisation and Unemployment – Professor Jayati Ghosh; Party Organisation and Mass Organisation – Prakash Karat; Globalisation and Socialism – Sitaram Yechury; National Situation and Tasks of the Youth – Mohammed Salim and Perspective of Youth Movement and Organisation – Hannan Mollah.

After the inaugural session, Professor Jayati Ghosh took the first class during which she explained in detail the concept of globalisation by giving important statistics. She brought out the relation between the imperialist globalisation and the rising unemployment, particularly in rural areas. 

Prakash Karat explained the principles of Party organisation and the importance of understanding the concept of organisation correctly for strengthening of the Party. He underlined the importance of maintaining the independent character and identity of the mass organisation. Karat said that to develop the democratic consciousness of our people, there is urgent need to take up social issues. He urged the youth to strengthen our struggle against the American imperialism, Sangh Parivar and also against the anti-people policies of the UPA government. 

On the second day, Sitaram Yechury explained in his class explained the ramifications of the ongoing process of imperialist globalisation, particularly on the employment situation in the world. He said today under globalisation, the world was experiencing a form of jobless and job-loss growth and called upon the youth to be in the forefront of the struggle against globalisation policies which were seeking to impose neo-imperial sovereignty over the third world.

On the third day Mohammed Salim dwelt upon the current national situation and called upon the youth to draw inspiration from the struggles of their counterparts in Latin America against American imperialism and for their own future. He wanted them to similarly unite our youth for militant struggles to secure a better future. He said the DYFI must unite the youth against communalism, separatism and terrorism. 

Hannan Mollah in his class urged the delegates to increase the member strength of the organisation by attracting the youth through struggles in all areas that concerned the youth. 

On the last day of the school, Party Polit Bureau members Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, Biman Bose and Achutanandan greeted the students of the school. V Srinivasa Rao addressed the concluding session.
