COMRADE K KRISHNAMURTY

VETERAN leader of agricultural workers and peasantry in Andhra Pradesh and a direct participant in the historic Telangana armed struggle, Comrade K Krishnamurty passed away in the early hours of August 1 at Hyderabad. Comrade Krishnamurty who was a member of the Andhra Pradesh state committee of the CPI(M) and president of AP Agricultural Workers Union, had been unwell for the last one year. His condition deteriorated and he suffered a severe brain stroke leading to his death. Comrade Krishnamurty is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter. 

The body of Comrade Krishnamurty was taken in a procession from his residence to the cremation ground. Party state secretary B V Raghavulu, central committee member and AIAWU all India president Paturi Ramaiah and other state leaders participated in the last journey. AIAWU general secretary A Vijayaraghavan, who rushed to Hyderabad on hearing the news of Comrade Krishnamurty’s demise also paid homage to the departed leader.

In a statement, the state committee of the Party condoled the death of Comrade Krishnamurty. “His life was entwined with the movement of the agricultural labourers. He was attracted to Communist ideology at early stage of his life and was one of the prominent fighters of the Telangana armed struggle”, it stated. Raghavulu conveyed heartfelt condolences to the family of Comrade Krishnamurty on behalf of CPI(M) state committee. 

AIKS & AIAWU CONDOLENCE

The All India Kisan Sabha and All India Agricultural Workers Union have expressed deep sorrow at the sudden demise of Comrade K Krishnamurty, a member of CWC of All India Agricultural Workers Union and a veteran leader of agricultural workers and peasantry in Andhra Pradesh. 

In separate statements they recalled his immense contribution to the struggle of the peasantry. He was a freedom fighter and one of the prominent participant in epic Telangana struggle. They felt his death would be a great loss to the peasant and agricultural workers movement of the country, particularly for Andhra Pradesh and sent heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. (INN)
