RESOLUTIONS ADOPTED BY THE RALLY
On Adivasi and Forest Rights Bill
THE historic rally of All India Kisan Sabha, held at Ramlila Maidan, New Delhi on November 20 demands introduction and adoption of ‘Adivasi and Forest Rights Bill 2005’ in the winter session of the parliament. This is necessary to ensure that the rights of the community of people traditionally dwelling in the forests are protected. This rally condemns the government for rejecting the unanimous recommendations and amendments of the Joint Parliamentary Committee with regard to strengthening the said Bill. Every day thousands of adivasis are evicted in the name of protecting the environment whereas lakhs of hectares of forest land are handed over to the MNCs and big corporate sector for loot. This rally warns the government against causing delay in adopting the Bill with amendments. The rally calls upon the peasantry of the country to launch a powerful movement so that the bill is adopted by the central government at the earliest.
On Rajasthan Struggle
THIS mammoth rally of kisans congratulates the brave kisans, workers and traders of Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh and Bikaner districts of Rajasthan for the glorious sacrifices they have made in course of their long and sustained struggle against the anti-farmer, anti-people, anti-worker and utterly repressive policies of the BJP state government. The rally condemns the most heinous and barbaric attacks unleashed by the Rajasthan government on the peaceful and unarmed peasants, traders and workers of the three districts. These people have been fighting for release of adequate share of water for irrigation of cotton and rabi crops from the Indira Gandhi Canal Project, as per the agreement between the state government and the Sangharsh Samiti on December 11, 2004. The state police and security forces resorted to severe lathicharge, teargassing and unprovoked firing resulting in two deaths, including of one woman; serious injuries to scores of people; abortion of a pregnant woman and arrest and detention of hundreds of people. The authorities imposed curfew in the area for several days and called out army to stage a flag march. This rally calls upon the Rajasthan government to start negotiations with Sangharsh Samiti without any delay, release all those arrested, pay adequate compensation to the family of the dead and injured and fully implement the agreement dated December 11, 2004 for the release of water for irrigation purpose.
On Dec 14 All India General Strike
THIS mammoth rally of kisans from all over the country endorses the all India general strike called by the Sponsoring Committee of Trade Unions on the December 14, 2006 in support of the 16-point demands representing national issues concerning different segments of toiling people, including adoption of measures by the government of India for stoppage of farmers suicides and against the policies of neo-liberalisation adopted by the central government, which are hitting hard the working class, peasantry and all sections of the working people.
The rally assures of all help and co-operation on behalf of All India Kisan Sabha in making the December 14 all India general strike a complete success.
