Tribal Forest Bill: Welcome Step
The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) issued the following statement on December 8, 2006
THE Polit Bureau welcomes the decision of the union cabinet to place the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Bill for adoption in parliament. The Bill, incorporating the major recommendations of the Joint Parliamentary Committee, will be an important step in protecting the rights of the tribal people and traditional forest dwellers to land in the forests.
