CPI(M) Flays Rising Crime Graph

THE Haryana state unit of the CPI(M) has expressed grave concern over the rising graph of crime in the state, posing a serious threat to the security of common people in general and that of the women in particular. In a press note issued from Rohtak, on September 29, the party’s state secretary Inderjit Singh alleged that while the state has gone into the grip of organised criminal gangs the state government continues to be totally insensitive to the situation.

Citing the cases of Dabra in Hisar, Piloo Khera in Jind and Gohana in Sonepat as most disturbing instances of gang rape, Singh said women in general and dalit women in particular have become soft targets of these criminal elements.

He expressed astonishment at the Haryana chief minister’s statement that the spurts in figures of various crimes were due to an increase in registration of crime by the police. The CPI(M) also flayed the chief minister for his claim, made at Chandigarh on September 28, that the increased investment in the state was a proof of the better law and order situation here.

The CPI(M) has decided to launch a mass campaign throughout the state against the deteriorating law and order situation here. The campaign would be run in cooperation with other concerned organisations and citizens.
